Every year, one out of three seniors over the age of 65 years will experience a serious fall. This statistic is even higher for people for suffer from dementia.

This presentation addresses fours areas of safety for the person with dementia: Falls; Nutrition; Medications; and Wandering or Walking. Fall risk covers both environmental risks and risks associated with poor physical condition. Ways to address both issues will be included. Each of these areas is approached from the standpoint of general indicators for risk factors and approaches that can be used to reduce risk. Learn both the specific questions you should be asking, and the answers as well.

  • Discover what questions to ask in order to determine if a person with dementia is at risk
  • Learn contributing risk factors and approaches for falls, nutrition, medication and wandering or walking
  • Educate yourself in how to reduce risks for the people in your care
