June's Story
In the early stages of dementia, June placed an ad in the paper in order to find a caregiver. The person she hired was dishonest and cost her life savings, necessitating the sale of her home. By then June needed constant care because of the progress of her dementia. Beth, her closest relative, who lived in Sacramento, called Lifeline for help.
Lifeline Healthcare moved June and her favorite belongings into an appropriate assisted living facility. Then Lifeline inventoried, packed and shipped requested items to various family members and sold the rest. The Eldercare Caregiver hired contractors to clean, paint and prepare June's house for sale. Because the home showed so well in its refurbished state, it sold for 15% over the "as-is" sales quote.
The money from the sale became available to pay for June's long-term care and she did not become a financial burden to any family member.
