Board and Care Facilities
Board and Care facilities provide care, supervision and assistance with personal needs such as bathing and grooming. The facilities can range in size from six beds up to twelve. The residents in these facilities require varying levels of personal care and supervision.
- Licensed through the Department of Social Services
- Private homes with home-like atmosphere
- No more than 12 residents
- Private or shared rooms
- Assistance with bathing dressing, medications, using the bathroom, walking, and eating
- Meals are prepared
- Transportation provided most of the time
- 24-hour caregiver supervision
- Non-ambulatory residents are accepted
- May accommodate Alzheimer’s and dementia diagnosis’
- Private pay
- Some facilities may accept Social Security income (SSI)
